

Harriet Forman, 92, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Harriet was born December 28, 1918 in Indianola, Mississippi, daughter of Milton Pope and Anna Foster Burke. She received a BA degree from Delta State Teachers College in 1940 and, later, a Masters degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She was a school teacher and served in the WAVES (United States Naval Reserves) during World War II. In October 1945, she married Robert E. Forman of Indianola, Mississippi. After moves to several states, they returned to the Kansas City area in 1959. Prior to retirement, she was the assistant District Supervisor of the Disability Determination Unit of Kansas City, Missouri, Office of the Social Security Administration. During her lifetime she was an active member of DAR and many civic, educational and social organizations and was a member of Leawood United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband of 61 years, Robert E. Forman; her son Robert E. Forman, Jr.; her parents; four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her nieces Billie Keenon, Margaret Anne Lipe, Mary Ella Biggs, Maizie Burke and Lee Burke; her nephews Jack Burke, Jr., Milton Burke and Bill Burke. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Mindy Sander Forman.
