

Helmut Karl Mueller was born in Altenfled, Thuringian Wald, Germany on November 4, 1926 to his parents, Hermann and Anna Müller. At the age of 14, Helmut entered an apprenticeship in the tool and die trade at Walther's Arms Factory in Zella-Mehlis Thuringian Germany. Helmut served in the German Army in WWII entering at the age of 17.
He married Helga Wittenbacher on November 3, 1956. They immigrated to Ontario Canada in 1959 where they welcomed their daughters, Yvonne in 1960 and Susanne in 1962. In 1964, the family moved to the United States. The family lived first in Kansas City and then moved to Independence, Missouri, where they built a home and in 1966 welcomed their son Manuel. During their time in Independence, Helga and Helmut formed close ties with neighbors and became members of the German America Citizens Association.
Helmut worked at Best Tool Manufacturing as a tool and die maker. He enjoyed traveling with his family, saw all fifty states and returned to Canada and Germany many times over the years to visit friends and family. He also enjoyed going to Lake Pomme De Terre with his family where he and Helga built a weekend home from the ground up.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his four siblings, 2 sisters (Gertrude and Helga),2 brothers (Herbert and Fritz), his wife (Helga), and his granddaughter (Nicole).
Helmut is survived by his two daughters, Yvonne Mueller and Susanne Newsome (married to Bill), his son, Manuel (married to Eileen), his granddaughters Kayla and Sierra, and many extended family members in Germany.
Helmut died on March 11, 2025 at the age of 98 and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery in Kansas City, on Saturday, March 29th, 2025. A graveside service will take place at 10:00am.
