

He was united in marriage to Yvonne A. Mayo on March 4th, 1956. Yvonne passed away on August 31, 2001. In their 45-year marriage they had three children, Debbie, Danny and Glenda.
He was united in marriage to Peggy L. Nicholas on February 2nd, 2002, who was a loving and caring wife for him till the end of his journey. Peggy has three children, Mike, Shawn and Jennie. Adding three “bonus children” to the family that Russ loved as his own.
He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Lester, Tom and Jim.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; all six children; his brothers, Chet and Gary; his sister, Alice; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Russ had numerous jobs throughout his life, always providing for his family. He and his brother Chet started their own business, All Appliance, where they sold and serviced all types of appliances and HVAC equipment. Eventually Russ took over the business.
He was a Deacon, song leader and Sunday School teacher for many years. Russ, part of his family, and 2 friends started a Gospel group called The Good News Trio. They traveled to many churches over the years spreading his love of music and God.
Russ loved music of all types and loved playing his guitar and singing. This led him, in his younger days, to playing in an Air Force band at the Richards-Gebaur AFB with his friend Floyd Baker. Russ was not in the Air Force but somehow Floyd got him in the band. In his later years he would play and sing with various friends for Nursing Homes & Churches or just for fun.
Russ was a spiritual and honorable man of his word. Kindhearted, respectful and a friend to anyone he met.
He was a devoted father and showed much love, kindness, and guidance.
He will be forever missed and never forgotten by all who loved and truly knew him. Especially will miss his wonderful hugs!!!
