

Herman A. Garcia, Sr. age 90, of KCMO went home to the Lord surrounded by his family on August 18, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 24, 2020 at 9:30am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway, KCMO 64111. Visitation will be one Hour before Mass at 8:30am Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, KCK.
Herman was born April 13, 1930 in Holliday, KS to Gregory and Valentina (Ayala) Garcia. Herman started working at an early age to help provide for his family. He married the love of his life Ophelia Esquivel, November 17, 1951. Herman later joined the Army where he served his country for several years and fought in the Korean War. Herman worked and retired from Meyer-Noir Meat Packing Co. Herman also worked and retired from General Motors after 25 years of service. He received a Plaque of excellence and a Brand New Black 1993 GMC truck for his hard work and dedication. Herman decided retirement was not for him and started working at Marsh’s Sun Fresh in produce. He dedicated 20 years before he retired again. Herman loved watching and attend Royals and Chiefs games with his family especially the Home Openers. He also loved to watch his Cowboy Movies. Herman will always be remembered for being the caring provider he was, not only for his family but for anyone who came in his path. His home was always open and everyone was welcome especially during family gatherings and holidays. His homemade Menudo on Christmas Eve will definitely be miss.
Herman is survived by his wife of 68 years “Ofie”. His children, Herman Jr., (Anna Beth), Thomas (Patty) Carol (Manuel), Miceala (Gilbert), Raymond (Mary), Robert (Rachel), Jesse, Ronald and Valentina. 5 adoptive Children, Frannie, Hilda, Jeff (Isabel) Mark (Michelle), Aquaurius (Becky). Herman had 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Jerry, Glen, Margarito, and Jesse. His three sisters, Antonia, Sally and Juanita. His Daughter, Linda Garcia, his two grandsons, Mark and Michael Palacio, his great grandson Dominic Palacio and a great granddaughter, Michaela Cabrera.
Herman will be deeply missed by all his family and friends and all those that had the pleasure of knowing him. Although Herman was a man of very few words, his ACTIONS spoke Volumes.
