

Born IIa Jean Mott on June 21, 1930 in Hamilton, MO to parents Mabel (Dolan) Rake and Roy Mott. She grew up in Excelsior Springs, MO where she graduated from high school in 1947. Jean married her soulmate and high school sweetheart, Paul V. Fisher, on August 24, 1947 in Chicago, IL. Their love story was one of partnership and adventure. After Paul's service in the US Marine Corps, they returned to Kansas City to build a home filled with laughter, faith, and joyful chaos of raising five children. Jean and Paul were married 57 years and their relationship was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Jean's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a founding member of Longview United Methodist Church and later St. John's United Methodist Church, she found purpose and friendship, always welcoming others with a warm smile and open arms. Her commitment to service extend beyond the church. Jean cherished her 60 years with Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she gave back to her community and formed lifelong bonds.
Family was everything to Jean, She was the heart of every gathering, the hand that guided her children, and the one who kept traditions alive. Whether volunteering with the PTA or staying active in the Leawood Homes Association, Jean's Kinds and generosity touched everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her husband (Paul), infant son (Danny), mother and father (Mabel & Roy), and brother (George).
Jean's legacy lives on in her family of five children, Greg (Nancy). Paradise Valley, AZ; Tim (Kris), Prairie Village, KS; Steve (Molly), Prairie Village, KS; Paula Rector (John), Overland Park, KS; Pam Kelley (Dwain), Overland Park, KS; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved her dearly.
Our heartfelt thank you to Gwen Hudson (CareTaker) and Melody Lewellen (Jean's niece). Gwen, thank you for the beautiful care you gave mom. You are a treasure. Mel, thank you for the love and laughter you shared with her. You were loved by her like a daughter.
To know Jean was to know unwavering faith, loyal love, and a spirit that lifted others. Her wisdom, love of laughter, and compassionate heart will be missed beyond measure.
Friends are invited to join family in Jean's Celebration of Life on January 2, 2026 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 6900 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO. A visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 am. The service will start at 11:00 am with graveside to follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John's United Methodist Church.
