

Irene Garcia, 94, Kansas City, passed away August 13, 2017, surrounded by family. Visitation is Wednesday, Aug. 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO (North of the river). Funeral service is Thursday, Aug. 17 at 10:00 AM, also at McGilley Antioch Chapel, with burial to follow at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery.
Irene was born June 28, 1923 in Kansas City, MO to Arcadio and Hermelinda Arzola. She quit school after the eighth grade to work and help care for her family. She later married Joseph Garcia and together they had six children.
Irene was passionate about her family and her faith. She was an accomplished seamstress who worked at Jack Henry and retired from the Jones Store.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sons Joe George Garcia and Paul Richard Garcia; and her daughter-in-law, Anna “Nini” Garcia. Survivors include her sons Anthony E. “Sluggo” Garcia, Sr. (Emma), John N. Garcia, Sr., Michael J. Garcia, Sr. (Mary Grace) and daughter Linda S. Hernandez (Angel, Sr.); brothers Rudolph Arzola, Salvador Arzola and Leopold Arzola; 17 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
