

Ivan Earl Woods, 93, of Kansas City North, Missouri passed away September 16, 2013 at the Missouri Veteran’s home in Cameron Missouri. Earl was born November 29, 1919 on a hard scrabble farm in rural Dade County Missouri. He was the son of Albert and Frances Mae (Farmer) Woods. He graduated from Jerico Springs High School in 1937 and immediately traveled to Kansas City in search of a job. He lived with his sister in Harlem where he met his bride-to-be, Juanita Beller. They were married April 30, 1939 and to this union four sons were born. He served in the Navy during WWII and was decorated twice. Earl worked for Yellow Transit for many years, retiring as Head of Claims Prevention Department. He also carried a commission as Special Deputy for Jackson County, Missouri. Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Woods, his parents, two brothers Cecil Woods and Willard “Bill” Woods; sister Opal Erhart; son Jackie Earl Woods; and two grandchildren. He is survived by his sons Cecil Dale, Terry Lee and wife Terry Jane, Ray Dean and wife Carolyn; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Earl will be Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Moriah Terrace Park, 801 NW 108th Street, KCMO 64155. Friends and family may call on Thursday September 19 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Burial in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery.
