

Jack Baird, 91, of Lenexa, Kansas died April 18, 2012 at the home. He was born in Emporia, Kansas and had lived in the Kansas City area since 1946. Jack worked for Western Auto Supply Company for 26 years until his retirement in 1977. He was Vice President – Personnel and Chairman of the Administrative Committee for the company’s Profit Sharing / Retirement plan. Jack was a Marine Corps artillery officer in the southwest Pacific during World War II. He retired from active duty in 1946. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and held the rank of Major at the time of his discharge from the Marine Corps Reserve in 1951. He graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors from the College of Emporia with a degree in Business Administration. Preceding Jack in death were his parents, his first wife Josephine, and his daughter Janet. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane, son Jim (Rae), stepdaughters Sharon Procaccini and Becky Allen. He is also survived by grandchildren Zachary Baird (Abby), Kristen Baird Daigre (Rene), Matt Rogers, Andy Rogers, Rachel Rogers, Morgan Timmons, Leah Timmons and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, at Knox Presbyterian Church.
