Jack was the younger of two boys born to Selma White Spilker and Harry Aaron Spilker, September 27, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri. Jack graduated from Clayton High School and went on to earn his business degree at Washington University’s Olin School of Business. After graduating, he served in the Air National Guard and received an Honorable Discharge. He spent his career with Southwestern Bell winning many sales awards including the prestigious SWB CEO’s Circle of Excellence and Vice President’s Winners Circle.
With a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face, Jack never knew a stranger. He was a true gentleman with a great sense of humor. He loved golf, beginning at age 10, and continued as Captain of his high school team. As an avid golfer throughout his life, he landed a few revered Holes in One.
Along with Barbara, his wife and partner of 60 years, Jack was known as ex officio in all her various organizations, always supporting her current and next venture. He was involved in many organizations as well. He was a longtime member of the Nelson Atkins Society of Fellows, Washington University’s Loyalty Society, Hallbrook Country Club, and a Governor of the American Royal for many years.
As a father, Jack never missed one of his kids’ events, whether it be a horse show, a 3 a.m. hockey practice, or a tennis tournament. You could always count on him to be there with a smile.
Jack is survived by his wife, Barbara; their daughter, Mary, and her four children; Griffin, Taylor, Madison, and Meghan; their son, Harry and his wife, Annamarie, and their two children; Gabriella and Harrison. He is also survived by brother, Eugene Spilker and wife Harriet, his brother-in -law Michael Margulus and wife, Lizabeth and several nieces and nephews.
