Externally she was a woman of poise, class and wit. Internally she was wise, nurturing, ambitious and a woman of God. She was the type of person you couldn't tell your problems without her taking them to heart. She always knew the right thing to say and do. She was "the boss".
She had a heart as deep as the ocean and love for her family and friends that reached beyond the farthest star in the sky. She genuinely cared about life, people, and her work for the Lord. Every talk with her somehow encompassed our Heavenly Father. She'd meet you wherever you were in the flesh, then she'd guide you to the one who can solve all problems and heartache... Jesus Christ.
She will be missed for her unconditional love, laughter, wisdom, intellect and storytelling. She was the life of the party in every area in her life.
She had a rewarding career managing the Missouri Unemployment office until her retirement. She was a member of the American Business Women Association. During her tenure, she had the wonderful experience of meeting President Bill Clinton. After her retirement she fulfilled her dream vacation with a trip to London, England. Even with her success, she was humble and often said "what you do in your career is one sentence - only what you do for Christ will last."
Her true passion was working for the Lord. She was a member of Ebenezer AME Church for over 30 years where she served on the usher board, missionary society and Steward Board. She lived a life that often helped those who crossed paths with her. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding."
For all of these lovely attributes, we will forever cherish her memory while looking forward to seeing her again.
She is survived by her daughter Vicki Smith, son Clinton Jackson, grandson Brandon Jackson (Angie), granddaughter Dena Youngblood (Louis), great-grandson Keylan Jackson, great-granddaughter Alena Jackson, sister Dorris Sides, sister Rev. Donna Roberson, brother Akil Abdulah, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am both at Ebenezer AME Church, 3808 East Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery South at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
