James M. Gorman

Jimmy was born on December 10, 1991, grew up in Leawood, attended Nativity Parish School and graduated from Rockhurst High School, Great Class of 2010. In 2014, he earned degrees in Accounting and Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Creighton University where he was treasurer of Sigma Phi Epsilon, and president of the Greek Standards Board.

Jimmy was a second year student at Kansas University School of Law. As a Rice Scholar, he attended KU Law on a full scholarship awarded for outstanding academic credentials and proven leadership abilities. Jimmy was a staff editor on the Kansas Journal of Law & Public Policy and was active in the Student Bar Association. He also served as an International Dissertation Writing Fellow, assisting KU’s Doctor of Juridical Science candidates and editing their dissertations. Jimmy spent last summer as a legal intern with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Jimmy is survived by his parents, Mike and Kathy Gorman, sister Katie Bechina and husband Mike, sister Maggie, faithful dog Addie, grandmother Catherine Gorman, Uncle Jim and Aunt Janet Gorman and cousins Emily, Elizabeth, and Erin, Uncle Don and Aunt Peggy Tabor and cousins Mary Cate, Mick, and Will; and grandparents Jerry and Sandy Cahill, Uncle Jay and Aunt Alisa Cahill and cousins Ben and Joe, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Babette Moore and cousins Scott and Alexa, Uncle Mike and Aunt Allison Cahill and cousins Jack and Molly, and Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Catherine Cahill and cousin Sal. Jimmy is preceded in death by grandfather, Don Gorman and aunt, Kathy Gorman. He also leaves countless friends from every stage of his life.

Catholic Mass of the Resurrection will be Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 12:00 p.m. at Church of the Nativity, 119th and Mission Rd. in Leawood.
