

Following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, James (Jim) Frederick Guthrie of Kansas City, proceeded to Heaven in the comfort of his home on Friday, February 4th, 2022 at the age of 64 years.
Jim was born, November 13th, 1957, in Kansas City, MO where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1976. He went on to attend Creighton University and later on attended Kansas University. He had various jobs over the years, he was at his most recent employer, Ingredion, for close to 8yrs. As a huge sports fan, Jim loved to keep up with his favorite teams; KC Chiefs, KC Royals, KU Jayhawks. He had a passion for collecting wrist watches, firearms, and high quality cigars. He stayed active and informed on political affairs as a supporting Republican.
He will be lovingly survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy (Kay) Anne (Waldrop/Anastos) Guthrie; his only daughter: Alaxandria Leigh (Ian) German; His son: Micheal/Omar (Stacie) Waldrop; His beautiful grandson; Virgil James Alaxandria and Ian) German; And loving friends: Mr. and Mrs. Lewis; John Lewis; Sherry Peterson; and step son: James Anastos.
James was preceded in death by his parents: James Lyle and Virginia Lee (Varney) Guthrie; grandparents: Ralph (Carrie) Varney and Mr and Mrs Virgil Williams.
A Visitation Service will be held at 1:00pm-2:00pm with funeral services directly after, on Monday, February 21st, 2022, at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, located at 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Mo 64133.
