Jim loved God, family, country and Royals baseball.
He proudly served our country for 28 years in the Air National Guard at Rosecrans Airbase in St. Joseph Missouri. He was a fan of Royals baseball, watching or listening to almost every game. He loved working in his yard which he maintained meticulously, as well as his home which was his oasis in his last years sitting on his porch and listening to the birds. He also had a love of cars. He kept them as clean as the day he bought them and you would often see him on Saturdays in his driveway washing and cleaning them.
He married the love of his life Joan, August 14, 1962 and they enjoyed almost 62 years together raising two children, Terry Hinds and Victoria Kiel (Mark, beloved son in law). He had two grandchildren, Curtis (Alisa) Miller and Alexandra Miller. He had 5 great grandchildren Hunter and Kaylah Thompson, Emarosa, Cambree and Colson Miller. He also leaves behind two sisters Carol Hinds and Valerie Jan Meyer (William) and also brother in law Ed Pfitzner. Many beloved nieces and nephews. His sister Maryann Pfitzner passed from this life before him.
He loved making people laugh with his jokes and stories which he will be remembered for with many smiles. While he is with Jesus in a glorious new heaven, he will be missed so very very much until we see our dad and grandpa again.
A visitation for James will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Ln Dr, Kansas City, MO 64118. A mass of christian burial will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 900 NE Shady Ln Dr, Kansas City, MO 64118. A committal service will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 5001 NE Cookingham Dr, Kansas City, MO 64156.
Serving as pallbearers are Curtis Miller, Mark Kiel, Scott Kiel, Hunter Thompson, Bill Hankins, Greg Norris and Colson Miller.
