

He served our country in the US Marines, then went on to work and the Railroad and then worked for several years at General Motors.
His children remember him as a kind, gentle, and caring father who was always willing to help a stranger or a family member in need. He was a generous, witty, and compassionate individual who loved everyone and especially animals. He was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church and held his faith in God in the highest regard.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Edith Maschler, his 2 sisters, Theresa Simmons and Edith Arnold, and his 2 brothers, Francis Maschler and Thomas Maschler.
Jim is survived by his 4 daughters, Suzy Maschler, Cindy Johnson/Maschler, Theresa Wood/Maschler, and Tammy Newsome, along with his brother Carl Maschler and 4 beautiful grandchildren, Austin Wood, Savannah Wood, Jackson Wood, and the 2 beautiful new twins, Tyler Wood and Virginia Wood.
Memorial is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, January 10, 2026 at McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim's life. The memorial will only be about an hour long for friends and family to say something if they would like to share a memory or two about him.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Groves in Independence MO for their efforts, care, and dedication to his care and well-being. A sincere thank you goes out to Joseph Baker (nephew), and Tammy Newsome (daughter) for always being there for him in his final years.
