

James W. “Jim” Sheil, Sr. was born on March 3, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Willard & Mabel Sheil. He was a lifetime resident of the Kansas City area and served in the Unites States ARMY for four years. Jim, an FAO and Fire Investigator, retired from the Kansas City Fire Department in 1998 after serving for 38 years. At the time of his death he was a resident of Garden Village Independent Living Community. He is survived by his children, Christopher & Judy Sheil of Platte City, MO, Paula Jean Sheil of Grandview, MO, James “Jay” & Cynthia Sheil of Olathe, KS and Patricia “Penny” & Terry Mizener of Kansas City, MO; his 13 grandchildren, Daniel Phinney, Gabrielle Marie Sheil, Sarah Christine Sheil, Ryan Christopher Sheil, Jason James Honcoop, Tina & Cody Peterson, Jaci Kowal, Dustin Sheil, Allison Sheil, Jennifer Eileen Wiley, Amanda Lynn Mizener, Terry Alan Mizener, Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Mizener; his 5 great-grandchildren, Clayton Burns, Ginger Phinney, Tristian Biggs, Haiden Peterson, Hannah Bruns and Huston Bo Wiley. Jim also leaves behind Valarie & Ross Snyder as well as other extended family, his friends at Garden Village and his beloved caretaker, Megan Rodgers. Jim was an amazing man. He was a hero to all that knew him and a super hero to all that loved him. God has allowed him to join his love in Heaven along with his twin brother, Capt. John “Jack” Sheil and his other brothers, Battalion Chief Harold “Hump” Sheil and Capt. Jerry Sheil. Memorial contributions may be made to James Sheil to help the family defray funeral expenses.
