

James G. “Angel” Trainor, 91 of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, February 22, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Guardian Angels Church.
Jim was born January 25, 1913 to Thomas and Mary Jane (O’Connell) Trainor in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of Guardian Angels Church from 1916 to date. He graduated from Guardian Angels Grade School, Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in WWII in the Pacific for 3 years and was awarded the Bronze Star. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1977 after 35 years of service, and then worked part-time at ADM Milling Company, as a grain inspector for 8 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #527 since 1937 and was a Fourth Degree Knight, as well as the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Over the years he bowled in the Friendly Club League, K.of C. League, P.O. League and the Mission Bowl Friday Seniors. His Mother and Father, two brothers, John and Thomas and five sisters, Josephine Trainor, Margaret Richeson, Genevieve Zimmerman, Marie Toelle and Bernice Trainor, preceded Jim in death. His wife of 52 years, Mary Roos Trainor, five children and their spouses; Mary and Steve Hanks, Kathy and Kevin Martin, Janet and Dennis Trumble, John and Eileen Trainor and Tim and Carla Trainor; and 12 grandchildren survive him. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren and his Irish heritage.
