CMDR (USNR Ret.) James M. Wear, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away January 2, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 6, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri 64137. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, with Rosary, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made at St. Catherine of Siena Church or Smile Train. Jim was born October 5, 1922 in Satanta, Kansas. Jim was a Naval Aviator during World War II serving in active duty from 1942-1947. He was one of the few selected for the Night Fighter Program. USNR from 1947-1966. He was a pilot with Trans-World Airlines for 30 years, retiring in 1982. In his early years Jim and his brothers had a musical group called “The Wear Brothers” and traveled the country entertaining. He was a member of the St. Catherine of Sienna Church and former Eucharistic minister and choir member. He is survived by his wife Rosemary D. Wear of the home; daughters Sharon Hamilton, Constance Guerrero, Jayme Wear and Mindy Gallagher (Jimmy); son Robert Wear; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
