Janet Louise Barlow was born April 4, 1955 in Iola, Kansas. She passed away at Glendale Gardens Nursing Home, Springfield, MO, on January 30th, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dale Barlow, daughter Beth Phelps (Matt), sons Jacob Barlow (Sierra) and Josh Barlow, and her beloved grandchildren, Jackson, Brayden, Addilyn, Hannah, and Josiah.
Janet was known for her love for others. Her love for the Lord and His love for her made her who she was. She loved her husband, Dale, for over 50 years, as they met at Loma Vista Baptist Church in high school. they lived in Kansas City, Mo. most of their lives, before moving to Nixa, Mo. Married for 47 years, they had three children who were the joys of her life. She was the “cool” mom growing up. She opened up her home to so many to love on, feed and share God’s love with. Her most prized possessions came in the form of her grandchildren. She loved and spoiled them unapologeticly. Spending time at the foot of her bed, talking about life challenges and decisions, will be missed greatly by her children and grandchildren. She always made time for her family and gave the best advice and Godly wisdom.
Another love of Janet’s was traveling with her husband Dale and their dog, Colt, in recent years. They visited many NASCAR tracks while she cheered on her favorite driver, Denny Hamlin. The last 10 years they enjoyed being snowbirds in their RV at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Al. They met dear friends, became involved in local ministries and enjoyed being in the warmth rather than the cold Missouri winters.
Janet’s life was not always an easy one, but she knew God had a specific plan and purpose for her life. She was the sweetest woman, full of life and love. In honor of Janet and her love for all things bright and cheerful, we ask those attending her service wear clothing that reflect her bright and cheerful personality.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7th, 2022 from 5-7pm and a Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 8th 2022, at 10am. Both will be held at Abundant Life Church Administration Building 410 SW Persels Rd, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64081.
Janet loved The Kansas City Police Department and loved supporting them anyway she could.
