

Jerry Hicks, 84, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born on November 16, 1940 in Marceline, Missouri, Jerry lived a life of service, hard work, and love for his family.
Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, an experience that shaped him into the dedicated and determined man he became. After his service, he settled in Kansas City, where he built a life centered around hard work and providing for his loved ones. For 32 years, Jerry worked as a Teamster and was a city truck driver for ABF Freight Systems, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues for his work ethic and loyalty.
In 2012, Jerry was widowed after the passing of his beloved wife, Rosario Hicks. Together, they raised two sons, Michael and Joseph, and Jerry’s devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. He ensured that his children were always provided for, instilling in them the importance of hard work, integrity, and the value of education. Jerry’s love for his family extended to his daughter-in-law, Ruby, and his granddaughter, Mia, who brought him great joy.
A simple man, Jerry found fulfillment in the everyday acts of love and care. Whether it was ensuring a roof was over his family’s head, providing for food on the table, or making sure his sons had the opportunity to receive a solid education, Jerry’s focus was always on providing and protecting those he loved.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Michael and Joseph, his daughter-in-law Ruby, his granddaughter Mia, and many other family members and friends who were touched by his kindness, integrity, and hard work. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service will be held to honor his life and memory at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 26th followed by a burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Marceline, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jerry’s name to Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org .
