

Jerry D. Rapp, 60, Raytown, MO died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at Edgewood Manor Health Care Facility, Raytown. He was born February 20, 1944 in Appleton City, Missouri, the son of Fred L. and Mildred W. (Ramsey) Rapp. Jerry grew up in Appleton City and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1962. He attended Central Missouri State University and was a graduate of Longview Community College. Jerry worked for the Raytown School District for 21 years and later at Welcome House, Kansas City, Missouri. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton City and Peace Lutheran Church, Raytown and presently at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He enjoyed bowling, painting, traveling and attendeing Club meetings as his health permitted. He was a talented speaker and writer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred on November 27, 1980, his mother, Mildred on August 11, 2004, brother Rex F., brother-in-law Edwin L. Martinson, sister-in-law Phyllis (Nichols) Rapp. Survivors include a sister, Joyce Martinson, Harrisonville, MO, brothers Frank B. (Dorothy) Rapp, Salina, KS and Larry W. (Carol) Rapp, Butler, MO. Other survivors are nephews James F., Gregory and Jeffrey (Maria) Rapp and nieces Shirley Schamberger (Tim) and Juli (Eric) Weber, and seven great nieces and nephews, Chad and Chase Schamberger, Brandon and Haley Rapp, and Jordan, Allyson and Lauren Weber. He is further survived by many cherished loved ones and friends.
Jerry was an important sponsor, mentor, and counselor to many. His dedication and loyalty were unsurpassed. He faced many challenges in his life, but he met them with a positive attitude and refused to allow his limitations to control his life. Jerry was devoted to his family. He was very dear to all of us and we will forever hold him in our hearts.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. January 25, 2005 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 700 NE Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, Missouri followed by cremation. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association, Welcome House or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
