Jessie C. McCaffree

Jessie C. McCaffree, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 31st, 11:00 a.m., at Presbyterian Church of Stanley, 14895 Antioch Road, Stanley, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cottey College for the Jessie (Welliver) McCaffree Scholarship, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 64772.

Jessie was born June 25, 1922 in Amsterdam, MO, to Carl and Burdee (Wolfe) Welliver. She grew up in Butler, MO and graduated from Cottey Collegen and attended William Jewell College. Jessie married Sam McCaffree in 1941. She was a member of Chapter AV, PEO and a 50 year member of Johnson County Young Matrons, a member of Johnson County LaSertoma, and Presidents and Past Presidents. Jessie was an active member of the Village Presbyterian Church and Circle.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Warren D. Welliver. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Sam; brother, John Clayton Welliver; children, Carl L. (Lee) McCaffree and Marla M. Harper; grandchildren, Matt (Abby) McCaffree, Jenna (Brian) Lock, Mark McCaffree, Alison H. (Nick) Crane, Clay Harper; great-grandchildren, Caroline McCaffree, Julia McCaffree, Anna McCaffree, Owen Lock and Vivian Lock.
