

Jessie B. Watson was born February 1, 1915, in Friars Point, Mississippi to the union of Henry Watson and Ollie Bell Powell. He was one of seven children; four sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and one son.
As a young man, he married Mary Lee Gates. Within this union, seven sons were born. He later moved to West Memphis, Arkansas, where he worked for a number of years with the City of West Memphis, Arkansas. In later years, he married Charlene McCall (who also proceeded in his death). Within their union, two daughters were born. The family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1967, where he continually worked for the City of Kansas City, Missouri until retirement. Jessie was known for his gifted talent of singing. He had an outstanding voice singing bass in the local gospel group, “The Jubilee Harmonizers.” He also loved to fish, hunt and had an inspiring sense of humor.
His journey lasted 99 years until his heavenly transition on February 8, 2014. Jessie is survived by one sister, Rosie L. Daniel; one brother, Lee Andrew Cotton; six sons, Rev. Jesse J. Watson (Beverly), William L. Watson (Helen); Lee A.Watson (Ellie); James D.Watson (Coco); John D. Watson (Charlene), and Choice Watson (Chiquita); and two daughters, Bernice Watson-Harbour and Vivian A. Bynum (Curtis). He leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15th, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 7106 Prospect Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery.
