She was born on June 23, 1936, in Knobby, MO. Her parents were Charlotte and Albert Jeffcoat.
Joan was married to Elmer Haupt, Jr. on August 26, 1956. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year.
She worked at her childrens’ high school as a lunch lady, cleaned homes, and was employed with JC Penney’s for about 14 years until her retirement in 2000.
Joan lived with her husband in their Kansas City home for 57 years. Joan loved to read, garden, travel, visit with friends and family, watch sports (tennis, golf, the Chiefs and the Royals), dine out, listen to music, and go to her lakehouse at the Ozarks. She decorated her home for every season and occasion, hosting loved ones for a visit whenever she had the chance.
Joan and her family joined the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1960.
Joan was loving and well-loved by all who met her. She was cheerful and easygoing, ever supportive of her friends and family, and kind to everyone. She always took care of others. Her life philosophy can be summed up in three words: “That’s just fine!”
Joan is survived by her husband Elmer Haupt, Jr.; children Bradley Haupt (Aunie Haupt), Jeffrey Haupt (Wanda Haupt), and Stephanie Ann Banks-Haupt (Natalie Banks-Haupt); grandchildren Brianne Haupt, Ramie Cathey (JC), Seth Haupt, and Issa Banks-Haupt; great-grandchildren Charley Rose and Corey Lynn Cathey; sibling Jimmy Thomas; niece Cheryl Klein, nephew Terry French, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews; best friend Norma Russell as well as many other friends, and her well-loved, loyal, adoring dog Bailey.
