

Joanne M. Whitehurse started her Heavenly life on July 4, 2025 with family by her side. She enjoyed a full life having been married to Elmer J. Whitehurse Jr for 26 years until his passing in 1988. She was Mom to her three children Julie, Michael, and Leslie. Grandma to three grandsons Brent, Brian, and Brenden. Great Grandma to Aiden, Arlo and Lucy.
Joanne was born June 18, 1935 to Alfred and Eileen Muth and grew up along the lake in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. She was one of seven siblings whom she loved dearly. She lived briefly in Denver before settling down in Kansas City, MO and marrying Elmer “Bud” Whitehurse Jr. in 1961.
Joanne was a member of St. John Francis Regis Church since its beginning and was devoted to her Catholic faith. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Archbishop O’Hara High School and was fortunate to have befriended so many good people through St. Regis and O’Hara.
Throughout her life she was able to travel to many countries with family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, daily Mass with the occasional breakfast out afterwards and the music channel which was a constant in her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Eileen Muth, brothers Robert Muth, John Muth and James Muth, sisters MaryLee Stark and Eileen Muth, husband Elmer Whitehurse Jr and daughter Leslie Whitehurse.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Julie Boisen, son Michael Whitehurse, grandsons Brent Boisen, Brian Boisen, Brenden Boisen, daughter-in-law Brittany Boisen, great grandsons Aiden Boisen and Arlo Boisen, great granddaughter Lily Boisen and sister Ellen Monogue.
Joanne (Mom) was dearly loved and will be missed every day.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church on July 11, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m.
