Joe was born on May 11, 1929 in Woden, Iowa to Bernadino & Guadalupe (Acosta) Robles. On August 19, 1950, he married Beatriz Pacheco at St. John the Divine Church in KC, KS, which began a 62 year long journey as a family. He served in the US Air Force & Reserves as a Staff Sergeant. He worked for Body By Fisher, later to become General Motors Leeds Plant as an auto body painter. He retired after 32 years. He loved baseball & coaching his sons & nephews in the sport. He was affectionately called “Uncle Joe” by all! He loved his K.C. A’s & Royals. His children & grandchildren were raised to be True-Blue fans. He loved gardening & his tomatoes. He spent many years cultivating his vegetables. A legendary chef, he was in charge of all family holiday events, but especially preparing turkey & dressing for Thanksgiving. His burritos & salsa were famous & enjoyed far & wide. He was happy to prepare the Thanksgiving brisket for his Fan Club, the lovely ladies of St. Ann Guild. He loved the sweets sent to him by everyone. He enjoyed the casinos & picking his numbers for the lottery. He was a loving caregiver of his mother, brothers & sisters.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Benito, Steve & Fred Robles; & sisters, Bridget Fonseca & Jessie Zapien. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beatriz; sons, Joe Alexander Robles Jr. (Carolyn Sue), & Victor Gerard Robles; daughter, Kathleen Blount; 4 grandchildren, Alexander Lee Blount, Erica Blount Thurman (Ryan), Benjamin Thomas Robles & Bridgette Rene Robles; sisters, Helen Redford (Steve), Annie Medina (Louis), Carmen Aldrich (Robert), Delores Galvin, Mary Candillo & Alice Martinez. He was Uncle Joe to his seventy-four nieces & nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Grace Hospice for their gracious & exemplary care of Joe & his family – especially Kim, Nicole & Bellamy “the shocker”.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Joe’s memory by making donations to either Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway, Ste. 201, KCMO 64114 or St. Bernadette Catholic Church (The Pantry), 9020 E. 51st Terr., KCMO 64133.
Joe‘s spontaneous banter allowed him to make friends everywhere he went. His unusual sense of humor will be missed.
