John William Auld, Sr., 83, of Leawood, Kansas passed away on October 16 2011. Graveside service will be 10:00am October 20, 2011 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born August 21, 1928 to Annabelle (Kindred) and Dr. Mark Hamilton Auld in Kansas City. John graduated from Pembroke Country Day School, attended the University of Kansas and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He joined the Kroh Brothers Realty Firm in 1953. He and his brothers at one time or another, over their long real estate careers, sold almost every house in Old Leawood. John could give a running commentary on almost any Old Leawood house such as who built it, who lived there and what it cost "back in the day." After a long career with Kroh Brothers, John started his own real estate firm, Auld Realty Company, which he ran from 1971 to 1995. John always had a love for kids, family and traveling adventures. He enjoyed camping, photography and meeting people all over the U.S. He would typically start out on a one-week trip out West and call home from the Florida Keys three weeks later. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening and political discussions. His wife, Nancy Nichols Auld, and his brothers Mark and George preceded him in death. He is survived by sons John Jr., Stuart, and Seth and his wife Valerie and daughters Susan Powell and Nancy Diebolt and her husband John. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Nearing and husband Howard; Nancy Parker and husband Steve; and his grandchildren, Anne and Katy Auld, Ashley and Megan Auld, Lee Powell (Laura), Laura Strecker, Seth Auld, Jr. (Lindsey), Cameran Franklin and Annabelle Diebolt as well as one great-grandson Nicklaus Strecker, Jr. He was a joy to know and be with and everyone that encountered him will miss his great company and personality!
