John L. Bellah, 68, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on July 24, 2015, from complications resulting from open heart surgery. He was born on May 11, 1947 in Kansas City, MO, and was a 1965 graduate of Center High School. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Missouri, and served four years in the United State Air Force, stationed in Madrid, Spain.
John retired in 2009 after a distinguished career of 30 years with Honeywell as a Sr. Staff Engineer. He was fluent in Spanish and an avid amateur radio enthusiast. He taught as a volunteer GED classes for Independence School District.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, in 1987. John is survived by his mother Patricia Welker, brother Jim (Karen) Bellah, nephew Steven Bellah, great-niece Abigail Bellah, and many friends and colleagues.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
