
John F. “Jack” DeGraw, Jr., 77, of Gladstone, MO passed away at Northcare Hospice House on May 8, 2011. Visitation will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 11th from 10-11am with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11am. Burial to follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Jack was born to John, Sr. & Mary DeGraw on October 21, 1933 in Kansas City, KS. He was a lifelong area resident, graduated from De La Salle in 1952 and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Over the years, Jack worked in the clerical dept. for Gas Serv. Co., security for KCI Airport, a Veterans Affairs Rep. for UMKC and a greeter for Sam’s Club. He proudly served on active duty for the US Coast Guard from 1953-1957 and Coast Guard Reserve from 1957-1976. Jack also served in the Missouri National Guard from 1985-1993 obtaining E6 rank and retiring with 33 years total Military Service. He was a member of the Gladstone VFW # 10906, member & past CDR of Post Honor Guard as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and his parents. He is survived by his second wife, Frances of the home and his children, John E. (Caroline) of Lebanon, MO, Michael F. (Brenda) of Lebanon, MO, Edward M. (Alice) of Sedalia, MO, Patrick J. of Lawrence, KS, Jeanne Ann Wood (James) of Lawson, MO and Mary Elizabeth Richardson (Doug) of Long Lane, MO.
