

John Robert Drummond, 83, passed away January 6, 2017. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 with the Rosary Recitation at 6PM at McGilley Memorial Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, Jan. 11 at Cure of Ars Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Grace Hospice.
Bob graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and served as a seaman on the USS Newport News. On December 18, 1954 he married Darlene Dietz in Kansas City, MO. Bob was the owner and operator of Drummond and Sons Dry Cleaners and Rainbow Cleaners where he worked for several decades. He enjoyed traveling, golfing and time at the lake with family and many friends. Bob also enjoyed reading, woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Darlene; a daughter, Terre and her husband Steve Messbarger; three sons, John, Jr. and his wife Nieves, Jerry, and Joe and his wife Missy; a sister, Marilyn Aylward; 5 grandchildren, Annie, Katy, Johnny, Lauren and Taylor; one great grandson, Gavin as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Bob, a devout Catholic, was a loving, kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor! He will be greatly missed.
