

While holding the hand of his loving wife, John Walter Mincher, 88, peacefully passed from this life on July, 5, 2013. Dad was born on May 14, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio to Fred and Margaret Mincher. He attended Boardman High School until 1942 when he joined the Army Air Corps. He proudly served his country until 1946. While he was stationed in Washington DC, fate put him in the same taxi cab as a beautiful girl from Argyle Missouri. He married the love of his life on August 31, 1946 at Redemptorist Church. John and Bea made their home in Kansas City. Together, Mom and Dad raised their family with faith, love and devotion that etched each of our hearts with his love for his family. His warm smile and personality invited everyone to be his friend. He was a member of St. Elizabeth parish for twenty years where he was a scout leader, scout master and baseball coach. He was a third degree Knight of Columbus and retired from Southwestern Bell Yellow pages after 26 years. He loved to take his family camping every summer where many treasured memories were made. His Sunday breakfast brought his family together every weekend and kept our family bond strong.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bea and his children, Linda Messer, Tish Judy, Jimmy and Sharon Mincher, Jerry and Lindsay Mincher, Johnny and Cindy Mincher and Jeff and Molly Mincher; 17 adoring grandchildren, Mary Jennifer Naranjos (Jerry), Johnny Messer (Pili), Michael Judy (Mary Jane), Matthew Judy, Jessica Sheehan (Greg), Jimmy Mincher, Elizabeth Zsuzsics (Justin), Sarah Mincher, Caileigh Mincher, Christopher Mincher, Courtney Kisor (Jason), Timmy Mincher, Katie Mincher, Jeffrey Mincher (Maria), Megan Jaworski (Jay), Alex Mincher (Meg) and Anna Mincher, eight great grandchildren, sister Donna Kessler of Austintown, Ohio and brother Fred Mincher of Struthers, Ohio.Dad was a special man with a special heart. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a friend to all. We thank God for giving us such a man for 88 years to call our dad. “ Between you, me and the gatepost”, there was none better.Visitation services will be Monday, July 8 at St. Thomas More from 5-8. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at 10AM at St. Thomas More, 11822 Holmes , Kansas City, MO. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Pkwy., #100, Kansas City MO 64114.
