Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 13000 Bennington Ave., Grandview, MO. The family will receive friends and family at 10:15 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery after Mass.
John was born on January 19, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to William and Edna Shepard. He was in the United States Army May 1963 to April 1969. He was a steel worker for Union Wire Rope/Wireco. He married Eugenia Lathrom on August 8, 1964. Together they were active members of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, as well as being active members of Live Wires Square Dance Group. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, fishing, puzzles, western novels and slot machines at the casino.
John was preceded in death by his wife Jeannie in 2004, his parents and 4 siblings. He is survived by his children: Janet Grube, Eric Shepard (Lori), Michael Shepard (Gina), Robert Shepard (Courtney) and Karen Hrabovsky (Henry); 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and 1 due in August.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor.
