Johnnie L. Nichols, a brave, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and faithful woman, passed away on November 1, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on December 4, 1926, in Brownwood, Texas, to John and Jewel Mulvey, she grew up as an only child and a daddy's girl. Demonstrating her academic prowess early on, Johnnie skipped two grades and graduated high school at the young age of 16.
Johnnie dedicated many years of her life to waitressing before becoming the secretary for the Chef Stewards Association, where she worked until her retirement.
In 1970, she married Ora (Sparky) Nichols, with whom she shared 41 years of marriage. Together, they had a total family of four children.
Johnnie was a woman of many talents and interests. She hand sewed over 2100 lap blankets for John Knox Hospice and was an avid cross-stitcher. Her contributions to St. Luke's United Methodist Church were significant, as she helped decorate the church and was actively involved in various church activities. Johnnie also attended Stitchers, a sewing club, on a weekly basis and cherished her time with family and her dog, Buddy Boy.
Preceded in death by her husband, Sparky, her oldest daughter Louise Cox, and granddaughter Michelle Ritzinger. Johnnie leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Dean (Leo) and Eileen Jones (Gil), as well as her grandchildren, Leisa, Johnny, Kim, James, Donielle, Angela, Melissa, and Rebecca, great-grandchildren Mykayla, Cole, Danilyn, Stephen, Kristen, Austin, Xander, Ella, Luke, Hannah, Brayden, and Elliana, great greatgrandchildren Noah, Presley, Arya, Alayah, Keegan, Remmington and Kenzley.
Johnnie L. Nichols will be remembered for her unwavering faith, kindness, and dedication to her family and community.
