

Jorge (“Coco”) E. Vizcarra, 69, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away from cancer Tuesday evening July 2, 2013 in his home surrounded by family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 8th, 11:00 a.m., at Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the mass. Private burial. Jorge Ernesto Vizcarra was born June 29, 1944 in Arequipa, Peru. After attending the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria in Lima, he came to the United States to further pursue a higher education in engineering. He married Mary Ducommun of Cleghorn, IA on August 8, 1968 in Omaha, NE. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1970 and that same year began working for Black & Veatch. During a career that spanned four decades, he became a professional engineer and served as a manager for projects all over the world. Using his language and managerial skills, he opened Black & Veatch’s office in Puerto Rico in 1998. He was a devoted father to his five children, and he was always proud of their educational and professional achievements. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and soccer and was a coach for all of his children’s soccer teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jorge Ernesto Vizcarra Febres and Maria Luisa Del Sante de Vizcarra, and his grandson, Thomas Daniel Vizcarra. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and his six siblings, Alfredo, Teresa, Mercedes, Charo, Fernando, and Nancy; his five children, Teresa Clune and husband, Dan; Daniel Vizcarra and wife, Melinda; Anna Vizcarra-Boeger and husband, Chad Boeger; Christina Vizcarra, and husband, Matthias Merkel Hess; Natalie Heying and husband, Nathan, and ten grandchildren, Peyton, Joseph, Nina, and Patrick Clune; Andrew, Kathryn, and Ava Vizcarra; Laney and Sophie Boeger; and Conrad Merkel.
