

Joseph (Joe) A. Graf, 76, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025. Interment was at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Catholic Community Health.
Joe was born July 28, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Kansas City and Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Joe graduated from Westport High School, Kansas City, Missouri, Class of 1966; Attended Metropolitan Junior College; served in the Army with honorable discharge; graduated from University of Missouri at Kansas City, B.S. Mathematics 1975; graduated with a M.S. Industrial Hygiene 1976.
Joe retired in 2007 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as chief of the Safety Office in KC. Prior to that Joe served as an industrial hygienist with the Corps KC district; as regional IH for the U.S. Public Health Service and as IH for the U.S. Department of Labor.
Joe had multiple certifications and was a member of several associations related to industrial hygiene; The American Industrial Hygienist Association, American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists; member and past president of the Mid America Section, AIHA, and the AIHA Computer Applications Committee. He had also been chair of the KC Chapter of the Federal Safety and Health Council.
Joe spent time away from work with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, especially where there were lakes, oceans and beaches, and was a technologist; enjoying computers, audio and video equipment and other interesting gadgets. Joe enjoyed the opera and a liked a wide variety of music. Joe also was well read and stayed current with science, technology and current news. Joe was a Kansas City Chiefs' season ticket holder for many years and certainly enjoyed watching them on TV in recent years.
Joe volunteered in the community as a hospice volunteer and a ministry of communion. He also was an active participant in IH and Computer clubs over the years. Joe was always available to help family and friends through difficult situations. He was also the go to guy for computer assistance in and out of the office.
Joe was a fun loving and giving son, brother, nephew, uncle and great uncle who was always curious about how someone was faring and enjoyed starting up conversations at any gathering. Joe was always available for seasoned advice and was generous in his time, care and finances. Joe enjoyed playing chess over the years and in recent years played dominoes with friends often.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Edward Graf and Mrs. Pauline A. Graf; two brothers, Robert G. and Kenneth R. Graf and sister Katharine A. Graf. He is survived by three brothers, Michael E. (Margaret J.); Victor D. (Sallie); Stephen L. (Karen) Graf; nephews and nieces; grandnephews and grandnieces.
