Joseph Ronald Johnson

Joseph affectionately known as Joe, was born December 21, 1955, in Wathena Kansas, first son born to the union of Joseph Reuben and Shirley Mae Johnson.

Preceding him in death were his son La Shawn Terez Davis (Shawn), father Joseph Sr., stepfather Gilbert Isaiah, both of his brothers Jeffery (Scott) and Rodney Johnson Sr.

Joe grew up in Chicago and was educated in Chicago public schools. After high school Joe met and married Yvonne Brown the marriage was later dissolved, no children was born to this union.

In 1990, Joe moved to Kansas City, Missouri with his son Shawn, who he raised as a single parent. Joe worked retail, restaurants, and several jobs as a machine operator. After being laid off in 2010 his health started to decline, he became a member of Holmeswood Baptist Church in 1996.

Joe's first born son La Shawn T. Davis was born in Chicago, Illinois. His daughter Shelmedria Johnson was born in Kansas City Missouri. Joe loved his children. He would sit and talk with them, play cards and board games, he loved spending time with his children. Some of his daughter's fond memories of her dad were when he took her on nature walks to spend time with her. He will truly be missed.

He leaves, to cherish his precious memories, his daughter Shelmedria Johnson Fort Worth, Texas, his devoted mother Shirley Davis-Isaiah of Kansas City, Missouri. Aunt’s, uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A funeral service for Joseph will be held Monday, February 17, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
