

Joe Kissinger passed away on October 27, 2016, one day after celebrating a 70th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Irene (Storm). Joe and Irene were married on October 26, 1946 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Kansas City, Kansas.
Joe was born April 12, 1925 to Tom and Josephine Kissinger in Kansas City, Kansas and lived his entire life in this area. He graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school in 1939 and De LaSalle Military Academy in 1943. Immediately upon graduation Joe enlisted in the Army and proudly served as a combat infantry soldier and First Sergeant in the South Pacific Theater where he was awarded two Purple Hearts, the Combat Infantry Badge and a Bronze Star.
Surviving Joe is his wife Irene and their five children, Janet (John) Williamson, Dennis (Rene) Kissinger, Nancy (Bill) Bailey, Jim (Karen) Kissinger and Karen (Mike) Bailey along with his brother Jack (Marie) Kissinger. His family legacy also includes thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Joe had a full and active life including commitments to his family, community and church. He was long time member of the Boy Scouts of America where he was an honorary member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 10906. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church for nearly 60 years, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3414 and a Commander of the Honor Guard of the 4th Degree Monsignor Wogan Assembly #2315.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Gladstone, Missouri with a rosary service beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7th at St. Charles Church with the Committal Service following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri.
