Josephine Ann “Joann” Newton, 82, passed away October 18, 2015. Funeral service 12:30pm Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015 at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with visitation beginning at 11am. Burial following in Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Joann was born September 10, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Fredrick & Jessie Kramer. For over 25 years she worked as a retail clerk at various department stores. Joann was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Her husband, Joe was in a country band and Joann loved to hear him play and listen to country music. She was a loving mother and as her children grew up & moved out she “replaced” them with various pets. Joann was a very independent person, had a wonderful sense of humor & enjoyed gardening.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph L. Newton, Sr. & a brother, Richard Kramer. She is survived by her children, Joseph L. Newton, Jr., Barbara L. Orcutt (Vincent), Jessica L. Alvord (Mark) & Jeffrey L. Newton (Janie); a sister, Bernadine Pierce; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren & 2 great-greatgrandchildren.
