
Julian Lemos, 82, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2011, at the Kansas City Hospice House after a battle of lung cancer. Funeral Mass will be at 8:00 a.m. Tues., Feb. 15, at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Redemptorist), 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri 64111. Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Monday at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood KCMO, with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House. Julian was born June 19, 1928, in Kansas City, MO, to Sabas and Julia Lemos. He was a graduate of Manual High School. He started his career with Manor Baking Company and ended his career with Wonder Bread. He retired from Inter-Continental Bakeries (Wonder Bread) in June of 1990. He also retired from the U.S. Army and the Army Reserves and serve in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard Post #609 and was a volunteer at Redemptorist Church Senior Center. He was a long standing member of Azteca de Greater Kansas City. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Mary Lamas. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary of Kansas City, Missouri; son Julian (Sherri) Lemos, son Anthony (Theresa) Lemos, daughter Denise (Dr.John) Hellstein, son James (Kathleen) Lemos, son Henry (Andrea) Lemos; his grandchildren Justin Lemos, Michael Hellstein, Jacob Lemos, Linda (Hellstein) Marsden, James Lemos II, Michael Lemos, Allison Byard, Nicholas Lemos, Ashley Lemos and Joseph Lemos. He also is survived by his sister Marceline Orozco and brother Valentine (Earlene) Lemos. We like to thank his many friends and family members who prayed for him during his battle with cancer.
