Kathleen J. Martinez

Kathleen Martinez, 63, of Kansas City, Missouri, died on Monday, October 4, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family. A Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 5106 St. John Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri. Private burial will follow later in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be at the McGilley Midtown Chapel on Friday, October 8 from 6-9 p.m., where the rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.

Kathleen was born on April 3, 1947 in San Diego, California to James and Margaret Isabelle (Smith) Walsh. She was the ‘everything’ person to her family. She would cook, bake, and take care of everyone in her family and attended to every need. She was the consummate mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Louis Martinez; her parents; a brother, George Walsh; and sister, Mary Richie. Kathleen’s survivors include her children, Joseph Martinez of Kansas City, Alicia Fidelman (Wayne) of Bridgewater, NJ, Michael Martinez, Henry Martinez (Leann), Mark Martinez (Melissa), and Michelle Muniz (Juan), all of Kansas City; brothers, Joseph Walsh (Judy) and Jimmy Walsh; and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Walsh, all of Kansas City; 13 grandchildren and many family and friends.
