Born June 13, 1954, she was the second oldest of Lawrence B. Williams and Dona M. Williams, siblings include Doug, Cindy, Diana, Richard and Janet. The family had briefly lived in Shawnee Mission, Kansas but eventually settled into the Lee’s Summit area. She was a 1973 graduate of Lee’s Summit High School and later went on to have a 30+ year career working in customer service for GEHA, retiring in 2016.
She wed Walter Fritz, Jr. and had two sons, Jason and Shane. She was a grandmother to three; Lindsay, Megan and Elijah. She was affectionately known to them as ‘Grammie’ and they were her absolute everything. She adored them immensely, took so much pride in them and would unselfishly give so much of her time and attention to them.
A “Giver” is the best way to describe her. Kathy loved her family and friends but was also an animal lover. At the drop of a hat, she was willing to be there for someone, whether attending a sporting event, running an errand, grabbing a bite to eat or just keeping you company, she was all in. She was known to always have a treat for someone’s animal and would even go so far as to bring in and nurse back to health an abandoned squirrel (Alvin) that had fallen from a nest during a rainstorm. That is just who she was and for all of us that knew her well, that is what we will miss the most. She gave and gave without a hidden agenda, asking for nothing in return.
