Kendall Smith Cassidy Dean, 65, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away April 20, 2026 surrounded by friends and family who love her dearly. Kendall was born March 4, 1961 to John Smith and Sarah “Sally” Job in Kansas City, KS and attended Southwest High School. After attending Central Missouri State University, Kendall began working at Menorah Medical Center in the cardiac catheterization lab. Kendall found her purpose working with patients and found her chosen family, including her husband Roger, among her colleagues at the hospital. Later she began working as a realtor, specializing in helping young families find their dream homes and ensuring that all new homeowners could properly identify periwinkle.
Kendall was a loving mother to her children Devin, Brendan, and Dylan. She cherished her time traveling, volunteering with the Kansas City Young Matrons, gardening, baking cookies, and dancing to disco. She was always down to play bar trivia, visit the elephants at the Kansas City Zoo, walk around the Loose Park Rose Garden, or check out the latest exhibit at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Kendall found and created community everywhere she went, whether she was attending a Broadway show, hosting a meticulously themed party, or picking a friend up at the airport.
Kendall is preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger Dean, daughter Devin Cassidy, mother Sarah “Sally” Job, stepfather Jim Job, and her loving grandparents.
Kendall is survived by her daughter Dylan Dean (Trent Cleary) and son Brendan Cassidy along with her father John Smith, stepmother Terry Smith, uncle Robert Smith (Stephanie Smith), and siblings Jeffery Job and Natalie Wilkerson. In addition, there are numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss her greatly. Her absence will be forever felt.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, May 2nd, beginning with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Kansas City United Church of Christ in Brookside. A celebration of life will be hosted at the home of Shawn and Laurie Miller. In honor of Kendall’s memory, flowers can be sent to the church or contributions can be made to Project Purple.
