He was born on December 14, 1944, in Keokuk, Iowa, to William Arland “Red” Eager and Josephine Newman Eager, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Memphis, Missouri, along with his older sister, Leslie Eager Davis (Roger Powers) who survive him.
He attended and graduated from Memphis High School Class of 1962. He attended Northeast Missouri State University and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.
Ken married Mary Ann Gundy, also from Memphis, Missouri, and they were married for 61 years. They raised their family in Raytown, Missouri: daughter Teresa, son Christopher, and many beloved dogs and cats.
He worked at Western Blueprint in Kansas City, Missouri, as a technical photographer and later became co-owner and partner. He was known for his expertise with the innovative Opti-Copy camera. When the original Western Blueprint on Grand Avenue burnt down, he was instrumental in establishing the company at its new location at 18th and Main.
Ken served as Scoutmaster for Troop #285 and was an Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, canoeing, and photography. He was an accomplished bowler and woodworker.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Gundy Eager; daughter Teresa Eager Barber; son Christopher Eager and his wife Stana Chucovich Eager; grandson Jerell Barber and Dante’ Barber; one great-granddaughter, Nya Barber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
According to Ken’s wishes, there will be no service, but memorial contributions can be made either to REAP (Raytown Emergency Assistance Program) or Wayside Waifs.
