She was born on February 27, 1935, to Winifred and Lloyd McBride, and was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Lloyd McBride Jr.
LaGreta is survived by her devoted husband, Phineas S. Gitta; her loving daughters, Deborah Gitta Elmore and Winifred Gitta; and her cherished grandsons, Robert Brown and John Gitta; great grandson, Rustin Gitta.
Her heart was so big that many called her “Mama.” There are too many of these children to name, but if you ever came to her for help, advice, a good meal, or simply a hug—you know who you are, because you have felt her love.
LaGreta worked as a statistical typist in the purchasing department at General Hospital, which later became Truman Medical Center. Before her retirement, she was employed in the admissions office at Penn Valley College.
After retiring, she devoted her time and talent to her lifelong passion for cooking, preparing meals for her church’s food kitchen. She was especially known for her skill with desserts, which she shared generously with others.
