

Dwight Lawrence “Larry” Gribble, 93, of Overland Park, KS passed away April 25, 2015. A visitation will be from 12-noon to 1:00 p.m. with services at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight, Inc., Attn: Diane Gresse, 300 E. Auburn Ave, Springfield, OH 45505 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607.
Larry was born November 10, 1921 in Columbia, MO to Dwight L. & Josephine (Heifner) Gribble. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, and served with the 924th Field Artillery Battalion at The Battle of the Bulge. Larry graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and attended Texas A&M University. He also attended City University of Paris, France, while serving overseas.
Larry married Eleanor Lee Brown April 11, 1950, with whom he had two children. Early on, Larry worked with his family at their music store, Gribble Music, and later worked in accounting and business. Larry was able to participate in the veterans Honor Flight program in May 2014. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus for years for many kids, and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was known for always being a jokester. Larry was loved and will be deeply missed by his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret Payton and brother William Gribble. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Lee Gribble; son L. Craig Gribble (Susan); daughter Laurie Henricks (Dennis); grandchildren: Jennifer, Becky, and Brad (Emily) Gribble, and Taylor & Sierra Henricks; four nephews and two nieces.
