Latt Leon Copley, 59 of Kansas City, died on Sunday, December, 5, 2021 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. A Celebration of Latt’s Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel. There will be a visitation Friday night from 6-8 p.m. at the chapel.
Latt was born on January 1, 1962 in Houston, TX to Lawrence and Bonnie (James) Copley. He married the former JoJo Dean. Latt received his Bachelor's degree in accounting and computer science at Oral Roberts University, and went on to have quite a diverse work history. Latt loved the outdoors and romping with his grandkids. Grampy was their jungle gym. Fly fishing was a great passion of his, and
when he had the opportunity, it didn’t matter the weather - he’d fish in the hot sun or freezing snow, in
some of his favorite locations in Vail, CO and Branson, MO. Have you ever heard the saying, “one man’s
trash is another man’s treasure”? He was a great collector of “treasure”. He loved his family so dearly. If
you knew him, then you were well aware that you didn’t have to be a blood relative for him to consider
you family. And he meant it. He loved animals and they loved him. And he was adamant that when he
communicated with them, they understood “English”! He just had a way with them - truly - our own Ace
Ventura!! His greatest joy for nearly the last decade has been his grand babies. They were his entire
world. Whatever they wanted to do, he was always up for it. Walks to playgrounds and fountains,
foraging for pine cones, ice cream, movies and dance parties. And candy. So. Much. Candy.
Latt was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, JoJo; four sons, Christopher (Emily) Copley, Jordan (Kelly) Chesley, Jesse (Rachel) Chesley, Dakota (Kelsey) Copley; his daughter, Cassidy (Ryan) Snyder; extended family, Matt Verkinderen and Jamie Green; his
“person”/cousin, Debbie Kay Barlow; his sister, Celeste (Kevin) Hoover; grandchildren, Rowan, Anderson, River, Foster, Raiden, Scarlett and Collins; JoJo’s parents, Alan and Barb Dean; brothers-in-law, Mike Dean, Pat (Barb) Dean, Tige (Angie) Dean, Zak (Brittany)Dean and Andrew Dean; sister-in-law, Anna (Tyler) Chaffin; nieces and nephews, Jacqueline Wakelin, Jeremy Copley Wood, Joy Habibi, Courtney Feurer, Mikey Dean, Isabel Dean, Aubrey Dean, Cheyanne Gocke, David Dean, Bram Feurer, Ashley Bowman, Aubry-Ana Bowman, Aysiah Sloan, Rayse Dean, Ellis Chaffin and Blaklee Dean.
Latt always told those he loved, “I love you higher than the sky, deeper than the ocean, and more than you’ll ever know.” Latty will truly be missed.
