She had courageously battled various aliments which were caused by the cancer she had defeated in 2012. However, problems continued to plague her from the chemo and radiation she endured. Her last two months of care were given by the doctors and caring nurses of Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. The medical staff expressed their admiration for the fight she endured.
Leatrice was born May 31, 1941 in Salem, Arkansas and moved to Kansas City at an early age. She attended local grammar schools and graduated from Northeast High School in1959.
Leatrice loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit some of the major cities of Europe, Africa and the United States. Her last move was to return home to Kansas City in the early 90’s.
She was employed for several years at Chase Bag Company where she and her husband met. She also was employed and retired from the Purchasing Department of Adams Mark Hotel in Kansas City.
Leatrice was deeply loved by her family and friends and was always ready with a kind word or advice. She was truly the “Rock” of our family.
Leatrice is survived by Verlin her husband of 49 years, brother Randy and wife Mary of Blue Springs, Missouri, daughters Diana Schultz and husband Randy, Stacy Barnes and significant other Ed Bloomquist of Kansas City, Missouri, two sons Michael and wife Sherri of Palm Springs, and Victor of Temecula, California, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
