Lee E. Williams, Sr., 102, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 8, 2015. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 12:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm at Mt Moriah, Newcomer, and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Burial will be at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery.
Lee E. Williams, Sr. was born in Sunflower County, Mississippi, September 28, 1912 to James and Mary Williams. He was one of thirteen children born in that union. He grew up in Sunflower County, MS, and eventually made his way to Kansas City in early 1930s. He met and married Vivian Estell Williams, who survives him. During their retirement years, the couple lived in Lompoc, California, returning to Kansas City twice, before settling in Kansas City in 2004.
Lee and Vivian had five boys, Lee E. Williams, Jr., (Ozella) of Topeka, Kansas, James Williams, who precedes him in death, Melvin Williams (Wanda) and Carl Williams (Alberta) of Santa Barbara, CA, and Cecil Williams (Francis) of Kansas City, MO. There are four living siblings, Sadie Elaine Boone of Chicago, Thelma Roberts of Toledo, Ohio, Doug Williams of Auburn, Alabama, and Mary Alice Hall of Cleveland, Ohio. Lee Williams, Sr., leaves behind his wife Vivian of 80 years, four devoted sons, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
