Lela Marj Marjorie Rhodes

Lela Marjorie Rhodes, 99, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on February 18, 2016, at the Village House in John Knox Village. Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Marjorie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Aloysius Joseph Rhodes; her sisters Jo and Agnes; her brother Doug; and her two daughters, Jan Sternecker and Connie Slead. She is survived by her sister Sam Willhoyte (Jack), her son Larry Rhodes and wife Karen, and son-in-law Larry Slead (Toni), 6 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Marjorie was a 21 year resident at JKV and was very active within her building. She enjoyed taking walks through the Village, playing bingo on Tuesday evenings, hosting Thursday afternoon coffee for her friends, as well as decorating the common area in her hallway for each holiday. She was loved dearly by her family and friends, and will be remembered for her love to be ornery and “kid” people. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Village House staff and those who cared for Marjorie. The compassion and love shown to her will always be remembered.
