Les was born in February a long, long long, long long long long time ago in Kansas City, MO where he grew up and attended Center High School. All of his adult career was spent in the diesel mechanics industry, “if you have a question, go to Les”. He knew so much about automobiles that he was everyone’s “go to guy” for any questions they needed answered.
In 1963 he married the love of his life, JoRuth, and raised three kids in Grandview, MO. During those 58 years of marriage they enjoyed trips with friends, time with the family (especially grandchildren and great grandchildren) and the occasional stop at one of the casinos because they were “in the area”. He also enjoyed golf, drag strip racing and bowling throughout the years.
In his later years he always looked forward to getting to see the babies (great grandchildren). Every year the kids got to decorate Christmas cookies with him and no matter how messy it got he has a smile on his face.
This tall, handsome husband, Dad and Pappaw will be dearly missed for his smile, pretty, curly, dark hair, wit, sense of humor, one-liners and, overall, amazing personality and big heart.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Zelma Shaw; Sister, Donna Dee Storms; great grandson Riley Miller; uncle, Keith Shaw and nephew, Gary Dean Shaw.
He is left to be mourned by his wife of 58 years, JoRuth; three children, JoLayne Barnes, Jeffrey Shaw (Julie) and Jamie Kelley (John); 7 grandchildren, Joshua Shaw (Erin), JoBeth Rhoades (Nate), Brady Barnes (Hollie), Brett Barnes (Lori), Samantha Shaw (Jamie), Nicholas Kelley, and Pete Kelley; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and Nephew Kenny Cadue (Beverly).
The family will be holding a private get together at a later date.
