Lester Louise Glass reached out her hand to Jesus and accepted her eternal home in heaven on August 14, 2013. Lester missed Ira and Tray (Schnauzer) greatly. They all have their angel wings now.
Lester Louise Glass was born August 19th, 1936 in Kansas City, MO. She was the baby daughter of Clarence and Agnes Ellen Thomas. Lester was married to Ira Glass for 55 years. They would have celebrated their 56th year of marriage on December 26, 2013.
After graduation from Lincoln High School Lester started her career at St. Joe Hospital as a nurse's aide and consistently earned increased responsibilities. Lester studied and graduated as a surgical tech. Her exemplary work performance opened an additional opportunity to specialize as an assistant surgical technologist. Lester worked at St. Joe for 42 years.
While working at St. Joe Hospital, Lester would often assist her husband Ira in the evening with his cleaning contract requirements for their maintenance company. Lester was always there beside Ira in business and in supporting his health requirements. She never left Ira's side and tried to make sure he received everything he wanted during his illness. She was truly his nurse nightingale.
Lester was one of God's sweet souls on earth. She was a great friend, daughter, sister, cousin and aunt in the Glass family. It was a blessing and a privilege to have Lester in our lives.
Lester was a member of St. James United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She served on the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Twin Citians. Lester was a chartered member of the Jackson County Links serving in various leadership roles for over 30 years.
